Bad Bunny, a heavyweight in the streaming industry, is back on top

Un Verano Sin Ti,” the newest album by Puerto Rican rapper, singer, and pop artist Bad Bunny, has been a streaming steamroller, routinely reaching 150 million online plays per week in its first eight weeks on the Billboard album list. Even though there were two new releases in the Top 5 and only 657 copies of “Un Verano Sin Ti” sold as a whole album, the album’s 160 million streams were enough to return to the top spot.

Last summer, Bad Bunny, the world’s #1 streaming musician, described his new song as “a record to play on the beach, as a playlist.” Apparently, it’s working: According to monitoring firm Luminate, “Un Verano Sin Ti” sold 115,000 equivalent sales units for the week of June 30.

Luke Combs’ first single, “Growin’ Up,” which garnered 74,000 total units, including 56 million streams, was easily held off by that amount, which was a good number in country, where streaming has been slower to take over. The streaming total for “Growin’ Up” was the lowest among the albums in the Top 5.

Chris Brown’s new single, “Breezy,” debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, selling 72,000 copies and garnering 87 million plays. Sales of Drake’s surprise release “Honestly, Nevermind,” which debuted at the top of the chart last week, dropped 64%, while the album remained at No. 3 with 73,000 copies and 94 million streams.

The deluxe version of Chicago rapper Lil Durk’s chart-topping single “7220” rounds out the top five. A total of 31 songs were added to “7220” in the revised edition, which climbed from No. 18 to No. 1 with 95 million new streams last week.
