In the ongoing fight over the buyout, Elon Musk issues a subpoena to a Twitter whistleblower

As Elon Musk battles in court to back out of a major takeover transaction, the billionaire has legally subpoenaed a Twitter whistleblower to provide information regarding spam accounts at the social network. The material in question pertains to Twitter.

Musk has made an attempt to get out of the $44 billion deal by claiming that Twitter deceived him on the amount of fake accounts, often known as bots. This has prompted Twitter to strongly deny Musk’s claims and file a lawsuit against the company.

The CEO of Tesla is hoping that charges made by Peiter Zatko, who formerly worked as the head of security for Twitter, concerning severe security flaws and questionable activities at the company would provide support to his position.

According to court documents that were made public on Monday, Musk’s attorneys served Zatko with a subpoena on Saturday. The documents and messages in question date from January 2019. On September 9, Zatko was also compelled to respond to questions on the record posed by counsel for Musk.

An attorney representing Zatko did not react right away to a request for comment that was made. In court, Musk’s effort to renege on his purchase of Twitter has had a difficult time gaining traction.

Twitter was successful in gaining several early victories in the lawsuit, including obtaining a trial date on a fast-track, and as a result, its stock price increased as investors anticipated the platform would be victorious against the unpredictable Musk.
