This week, the manufacturer of nutritional drinks, Lyons Magnus, as well as the federal government announced that they have expanded a voluntary recall of some varieties of popular products, including the oat drink Oatly, Optimum Nutrition protein powder, and Glucerna shakes, due to the possibility of microbial contamination. These products include the Oatly, Glucerna, and Optimum Nutrition products.

On July 28th, the company published a statement in which it said that there had been no reports of illness or complaints that were associated to the goods that were recalled and that this information was accurate to the best of their knowledge. However, the statement did not mention whether or not anyone had become ill as a result of the recall, and a representative refused to comment beyond the press releases. On Wednesday, the company issued a statement in which it announced that additional goods had been recalled. The statement did not mention whether or not anybody had become ill as a result of the recall.

According to the statement released by the corporation, “constant contact and collaboration” between the company and the agency led to the recall of the product. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has provided a list of the 89 products that have been recalled, along with the lot and case numbers for each item on the list. The company claims that some of the products that were recalled were sent to different locations all throughout the United States.

On Friday evening, officials from the Food and Drug Administration did not react quickly to inquiries for comment. They were unavailable. Among the goods that have been recalled are certain varieties of milk produced by Organic Valley and cold brew coffee produced by Stumptown.

According to the company, the products being recalled have the potential to be contaminated with harmful organisms such as Cronobacter sakazakii and Clostridium botulinum, and as a result, the company has decided to recall those products. Cronobacter sakazakii is a kind of bacterium that has the potential to result in infections or inflammation of the membranes that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Infections and inflammations like these might pose a serious risk to one’s life. Clostridium botulinum is a kind of bacterium that, according to the World Health Organization, is capable of creating dangerous toxins that have the potential to cause a severe form of food poisoning. These toxins may be spread by contaminated food or water.

According to the declaration, some of the symptoms of Cronobacter sakazakii, a sickness that is very rare, might include a fever, vomiting, and an infection of the urinary system. Additionally, the statement suggests that the ailment could be contagious. The statement claims that Clostridium botulinum may induce illness anywhere from six hours to two weeks after eating food that has been contaminated with it, and that this condition has the potential to be lethal. A few of the symptoms include impaired or hazy vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, and a general weakening of the muscles.
